Started in April of 2010, World of Disney - one of my top personal favorite fanfic series next to The Disney Ghostbusters and Once Upon A Time Lord - celebrates its 5th year in 2015. Plans have been underway for the anniversary celebration, some of which I cannot divulge at the moment (more details are coming this fall), but it's safe to say that a lot is going down. However, looking past that, what else is in store for the 5 years after WOD's 5th online?
First, let's take a peak at what I have planned for the 5th anniversary next year...
From January through December of 2015, there will be nothing but new tales (full-length, short, and miniseries) posted out of the WOD series, a couple of which will be spin-offs and some that will bridge gaps in story and characters. One of them is titled The Disney Access, the fourth installment of the series (fifth if you count the current spin-off story, Marvel Mayhem). It's still very early to talk about details on plot, setting, and characters, but I can mention that the new central character is based on Chrissy Bernal, one of my frequent collaborators and star of two other current fics (Marvel Mayhem and Disney Men In Black). Chrissy's character is integral to not just the events of The Disney Access but those of previous WOD installments. Most recently on Twitter, I mentioned how she's "the best character I've written by far," which is certainly not an overstatement compared to some of the characters I've developed over the years.
The Disney Access will go online April 16, 2015 (the exact date for WOD's 5th anniversary)!
Chrissy's look in The Disney Access will be based on the one in this photo.
World of Disney in 2016 and BeyondWOD is that one series I designed to go on forever, possibly (and hopefully) with new talented writers helping out in writing whatever stories they please. The world within the "World of Disney" is vast and growing with each new story the Walt Disney Company itself brings into the media. Big Hero 6 is the next big Disney Animated Feature to hit theaters this November and, being based on a property of Marvel Comics, can go either in the direction of WOD or the Marvel Mayhem sequel Marvel Evolution that I'm targeting for 2016. Even characters from the popular film Frozen can see their way into future WOD tales with Elsa herself appearing in World of Disney 3 this December. As long as there's a story that can be found in it, there can be a new WOD installment for each year. And with the mysteries that have been left unsolved from the very first story, there's a strong chance one of the future installments will bring closure to them.
Reincarnations: The MacGuffins of World of Disney
(For those reading this who ask what a "MacGuffin" is, read here.)
I introduced the idea of reincarnations in The Marvelous World: World of Disney 2 with the character "Sheryl," having been inspired by a similar plot device from Doctor Who. Since that story, there have been a total of 22 reincarnations introduced in the WOD series (21 in Tales of the Disneyverse and one just recently in Marvel Mayhem), all of whom are in actuality Sean Thomas, the secondary character of the first World of Disney. Although WOD's reincarnations appear to be a cute Doctor Who reference for those familiar with the British TV series, they actually do service to the overall story in the WOD series - each one having an important role to each story. And, as it was revealed in Tales of the Disneyverse, all of the reincarnations are important to each other.
18 of Sean Thomas's reincarnations that were featured in Tales of the Disneyverse.
There are 3 more reincarnations to be introduced in World of Disney 3 - all three portrayed as a new different form of reincarnated beings that will lead into a whole new powerful one to be featured in The Disney Access next year. So with 26 of these reincarnations to be introduced by the end of Access, will there be even more in future tales? The answer - Heck Yeah! Even though it hasn't been revealed yet in any of the stories, there is a total of 100,000 reincarnations spread throughout the Disneyverse and other universes beyond. The explanation for why there are so many will be explained in World of Disney 3 later this year.
The roles for these reincarnations are filled through the interests of friends I'm connected to on social media with more and more coming in each month as potential candidates. Some that will be featured in future WOD installments may or may not be previous characters in previous stories reintroduced as reincarnations (the only character so far that has been reintroduced as a completely different one with her name is "Ciciley Livingston" in Marvel Mayhem - who bears the same name and appearance as "Ciciley Thomas" in World of Disney). In the case of a previously introduced reincarnation like "JeniLynn" in Tales of the Disneyverse, a reintroduction must be made for the sake of continuity and story development.
One particular person of interest I have in giving a reincarnation role to is none other than Candace Stupek, who will possibly be featured in the tale to come after The Disney Access next year...
Candace Stupek for "World of Disney 5?" Let's make it happen!
What else "Disney" can be in World of Disney in its future?
Only Disney themselves know what other properties they can possibly purchase in addition to Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars - all of which have been referenced so far in the WOD series. So what can be next to focus on after the game-changing Disney Access? I've had interests in moving to the live-action Disney world with classics like The Love Bug, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and Tron that I'd love to intertwine with Disney's animated world in some way. At one point in writing the WOD series, I thought about a spin-off story to feature Disney's live-action tales (coincidentally, Candace Stupek was poised to be the main character of that story). Chances are I'll revisit such a story for WOD in the fifth installment, considering what will happen in The Disney Access that will set the stage for it.
So there you have it - my plans for World of Disney's future beyond 2015. It might not seem like much now, but when the next year rolls around (and more developments arise), it's going to be pretty huge! Just make sure to read all of the WOD tales before then at this site: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/988328/RetroWriter2012
